Wall area is gross: the whole perimeter times the wall height. Subtract 20 sq ft per door and 15 per window (or use the paint calculator) for a tighter number. “Buy this” is the cheapest mix of 5-gallon buckets, gallons and quarts at typical 2026 prices ($45 gallon, $20 quart, $200 bucket).

Using the chart

  • Add the ceiling separately: length × width, two coats.
  • For one coat, halve the gallons. For three coats, multiply by 1.5.
  • Rough walls: use 250 sq ft per gallon instead of 350.

Estimates only. Check your paint can’s label for coverage. Prices are typical 2026 US figures; use your store’s.
